The Viola Anders Herb Garden, built by students and faculty in 1992, displays a collection of culinary, dye, aromatic and medicinal herbs.
The garden’s namesake, Viola Anders, was a 1938 graduate of the Pennsylvania School of Horticulture for Women (PSHW). In 1954, she joined the faculty of the Pennsylvania School of Horticulture for Women and made the transition to Temple when the school merged with the University in 1958. She retired from teaching at Temple University Ambler in 1979 as an assistant professor of floriculture.
