Natural Environments
The Temple Ambler Field Station overlays the 75.6 hectares Ambler Arboretum and Ambler Campus, with ecosystems ranging from older growth forest to wetlands and streams.
- Forest: 30.6 ha, including secondary forest and older growth dominated by American beech and black oak.
- Designed Gardens: 2 ha, including 12 cultivated gardens.
- Aquatic and Wetland Environments:
- Two ephemeral streams
- Wetlands: 0.9 ha
- Floodplain: 8.2 ha
- Meadows: 2.5 ha
- Turf: 14 ha
- Impervious Surface: 2 ha
The natural environments support a diverse assemblage of species, including over 1,000 unique taxa identified to date. Information on current temperature and soil conditions is also available.
