World Water Day is about what water means to people, its true value and how we can better protect this vital resource. By celebrating all the different ways water benefits our lives, we can value water properly and safeguard it effectively for everyone. Join us for World Water Day on Saturday, March 16!
Earth Day
Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Earth Day 1970 gave a voice to an emerging public consciousness about the state of our planet. Today, Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behavior and create global, national and local policy changes. Temple University Ambler held its first outdoor, educational program celebrating Earth Day on April 22, 2003 and has been hosting programing designed to help students, teachers and families become essential stewards of the Earth as they practice citizen science in the classroom and at home! Join us for Earth Day.
Arbor Day
Arbor Day is a time to encourage people to plant and protect trees. Many communities traditionally take the opportunity to organize tree-planting and litter-collecting events on or around the holiday. The first modern Arbor Day dates all the way back to 1805. The first Arbor Day in the United Stated was help in 1872 when an estimated one million trees were planted in Nebraska. Trees provide the very necessities of life itself. They clean our air, protect our drinking water, create healthy communities, and feed the human soul. But these life necessities are threatened around the globe. Learn about the Arbor Day Foundation's "Time for Trees" initiative, a plan to plant 100 million trees in forests and communities around the globe by 2022. Join us for Arbor Day.
About Celebrating the Earth
The mission of Celebrating the Earth is to promote environmental awareness using sustainable concepts, methods and practices to protect and preserve our environment. Organizations, businesses, students of all ages and individuals demonstrate sustainable concepts and technologies, and provide interactive educational programming, activities, and much more!
Celebrating the Earth and all of our EarthFest Presents events are central to the core values of Temple Ambler: student-centered learning, respect for the environment and community engagement. Since 2003, students from all over the region have spent time learning about the world in which we live and the interconnected systems on which the lives of people and animals depend.
Celebrating Earth Day is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jeffrey Featherstone, whose vision, guidance and leadership helped create an outdoor, educational experience for the next generation of leaders.
