Let the gardens of the Ambler Arboretum inspire you to create your own floral arrangements in a vase!

The Ambler Arboretum will be partnering with the Ambler Flower Shop to present Floral Arrangements in a Vase, which will be held on Thursday, March 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register online here.

This workshop will provide all the tools and flowers needed to create a stunning arrangement. The Arboretum will also share information about how you can grow flowers in your own garden to continue producing fresh floral arrangements at home.

Participants will be joined by Ambler Arboretum Horticulture Technician Mike Hitchings from 6 to 6:30 p.m. for a discussion on growing flowers for your floral arrangements. The Ambler Flower Shop will then help you make your floral designs come to life from 6 to 7:30 p.m.! Information: .

World Water Day at Temple Ambler

Take a moment to think about water. How is water important to you? Your home? Your cultural practices? Your well-being? Your local environment?

Ambler Arboretum EarthFest’s celebration of World Water Day will be held on Saturday, March 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Bright Hall at Temple University Ambler! EarthFest, the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University, the Temple Ambler Field Station, and the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University are joining with our event partners to lead explorations and discoveries related to UN World Water Day! The UN World Water Day 2024 global theme is "Water for Peace." When we cooperate on water, we create a positive ripple effect — fostering harmony, generating prosperity and building resilience to shared challenges. Join the Ambler Arboretum for a fun evening in which we will be showing the 1993 film adaptation of The Secret Garden in partnership with the Ambler Theater on Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. Ambler Arboretum Director Kathy Salisbury will additionally share some of the magic and surprises you can find in the gardens around you!

Based on the beloved novel, an orphaned girl is sent to England to live on her uncle’s lush country estate. While exploring the mysterious grounds, she discovers a neglected garden and recruits her cousins in its restoration. As the plants bloom, she discovers the garden possesses magical powers. Produced by Francis Ford Coppola and featuring Maggie Smith, this sophisticated fairy tale is one that viewers of all ages can enjoy. Learn more here.

Spring Arboretum Director's Walk

Join Ambler Arboretum Director Kathy Salisbury for a Spring Director’s Walk on Friday, April 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The hike will begin at the Flagpole Circle in front of Bright Hall.  Register online here.

During Seasonal Director’s Walks, the Arboretum will share information about ongoing projects, the history of the campus and gardens, and upcoming events while exploring the gardens seeing what is in bloom or interesting at the time. The walks may focus on a theme such as pollinators or fragrance.

Arboretum Horticulture Hike

Take a Spring Horticulture Hike through the gardens with Ambler Arboretum Director Kathy Salisbury on Friday, May 17, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The hike will begin at the Flagpole Circle in front of Bright Hall. Register online here.

Horticulture Hikes are horticulture intensive tours that will be held in partnership Tyler School of Art and Architecture Greenhouse Education and Research Complex Manager Benjamin Snyder. During the Horticulture Hikes, participants will explore plant identification, use and culture, and more. Think scientific names, distinctive traits, phenology, seasonal interest, distinguishing look alike plants and practicing using various resources for identification.
